I don't have word processing software on my computer that is compatable with MS Word. Can you give me a copy of MS Word to put on my computer?
Nope. Sorry. That would be illegal. However, I can give you a few suggestions.
First, if you currently have a word processing software package on your computer, you can try saving your documents in rich text format (.rtf). Come into the library for explicit instructions on how to do so. This works with most documents and in most word processors. If your document has a lot of complicated formatting -- like tables -- this may not be the best solution for you.
If you consider yourself good with technology, there are free options out there. For example, Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/) is compatible with the MicroSoft products and is free. Of course, you'll need to be able to download, install, and tinker with this software in order to get it to work.
Also, Google (http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/) has an option for document writing and storage that is free for the asking. The bonus to using Google's document software is that you don't need to save to a disk, hard drive or thumb drive. Google lets you store your documents and spread sheets on their servers. You can get to your documents from any Internet-capable computer and you can share your documents with friends -- a great way to collaborate on group projects or to have friends read over your papers for errors. Individuals can't change your Google documents without your permission or your password, and you can link to your documents from web pages.
If you simply must use MS Word, keep an eye on the sale papers and remember that you qualify for the educational package -- you don't need to buy the most expensive version of Office, you can buy the Educational version. Often, this can be had for under $100.00.
A Book on how to learn Japanese, Russian, adn/or Islamic. (Japanese prefereably)
There are books in the collection on Islam and Arabic. If you have specific book requests, please fill-out a book request form (also available in the library) and tell me how your request supports the curriculum.
